Researchers have developed a spectrum of products that can be used in places of security. Computers are now moved on from the traditional mouse and keyboard scheme of doing things, to becoming touch sensitive and intuitive.

Now the European Union funded Miauce project seeks to do just that. Miauce is expanded as Multi-modal interactions analysis and exploration of Users within a controlled environment. The project aims to develop technologies that adjudicate behavior patterns of people in commercial places.

A lot of factors will be taken into consideration. Some of them are how a person looks at things. A gazing time is taken from the person’s eyeball movements. Body movements are scrutinized closely to see any irregular patterns. The applications developed will not just be used for security; they will also be used in marketing activities as well.

To do all this computers have to have a kind of all-enveloping intelligence. Multiple points will be used to make it multimodal. What this means is that a person or group will be monitored from multiple points, and the data will be integrated, aggregated and analyzed against a database that stores pre-fed patterns.

Talking about security, surveillance cameras can be retro-fitted with this kind of technology. Surveillance cameras just stream data from a location to a centralized place. Now with an intelligent computer providing the body-language analysis, surveillance will become more intelligible. Computer scientists have an arduous task indeed of analyzing patterns derived from surveillance cameras.

In marketing, this technology can be used to detect a person’s buying pattern in a store or a supermarket. This includes how a person moves around in a store amongst other things. Computers with this technology will make assessments on the likes and dislikes of the customer. A lot of other data can be derived as well. Using these data marketers can be more proactive in their marketing efforts. Truly, body-language detecting computers have a bright future ahead in various aspects of everyday life.

Software Libre: Rendimiento Web

There is no rule that says you need to be cheap; in fact, when it comes to the things in life that you really want and enjoy, it behooves you to spend as lavishly as you please. If not for the ability to enjoy yourself with it, what would be the point of working so hard for your money? So if you desire to have the best computer that money can buy, you most definitely have that right. However, there is another factor which may weigh on you, as it regards how efficiently you operate your web site… and every other part of your life. It is the one resource that you will never be able to regenerate – your time.

Think about how little your computer actually has to do, in order to update your web site. If you use Dreamweaver, that is the kind of software that ordinary computers from five years ago could handle without difficulty. If you use Notepad, as some “old school” web site owners do, that is technology that an old 586 could rock. If you do not know what a 586 is, you innocent child, then you have been raised in an era where high speeds and extreme power are so ubiquitous that they are taken as “just how things are.” While there is definitely nothing wrong with this level of affluence, you need to consider that once your needs are met, everything else is a want – and wants have a tendency to wrestle against one another.

If you want to have a great web site, but you also want to play this incredible game that just came out, you are going to have something of a quandary. If you end up taking valuable site development time (the brain work, not the grunt work) and devoting it to some fun, frivolous pass time, you may end up doing serious damage to yourself over time. While there is nothing wrong with taking breaks, playing large scale games can be an outright addiction. And with addictions, you have to stay away from it.
